Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Combined Chapter
The XXIX Conference of the IAMM TAPC State Chapter will be hosted by AIIMS Mangalagiri, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh,
from October 2-4, 2026.
The IAMM TAPC 2025 Workshops, held on 10th October 2025, preceded the XXVIII Annual Conference organized by the Department of Microbiology, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, under the theme *“Modern Clinical Microbiology: Challenges, Opportunities and Solutions.”* Workshops were hosted across major institutes in Hyderabad, offering hands-on learning in diverse microbiology domains.
Sessions covered a wide range of topics — from One Health and Outbreak Management at AIIMS Bibinagar, focusing on zoonotic diseases and rapid response simulations, to Diagnostic Parasitology and Antimicrobial Stewardship (WASP) at NIMS, which explored new diagnostic methods, QC practices, and antibiogram building. Next Generation Sequencing at CDFD trained participants in NGS pipelines and COVID data analysis, while specialized sessions on Melioidosis, Infection Control Metrics, Ocular Infections, and Automation in Microbiology offered applied insights into diagnostics and hospital infection control. Additional workshops on Sterilization, Food Microbiology, and a PG Orientation Program enriched technical and safety competencies through interactive demonstrations.
The Annual Conference, held on 11–12 October 2025 at Taramati Baradari Resort, was **inaugurated by Brigadier Vishal Vir Sharma, SM, Commandant, Military Hospital, Secunderabad**, who graced the occasion as the **Chief Guest**. The conference brought together clinicians, researchers, and students from across the country. Day 1 featured inaugural sessions, keynote lectures, and symposia in Parasitology, Bacteriology, and Mycobacteriology, alongside discussions on automation and molecular diagnostics. Day 2 focused on postgraduate pedagogy, Mycology, and Virology, emphasizing emerging pathogens, antifungal resistance, and molecular epidemiology. Sessions on AI in microbiology, career pathways, and diagnostic innovation explored the future of clinical microbiology.
The event concluded with a valedictory session and awards recognizing excellence in research and practice. Overall, IAMM TAPC 2025 fostered collaboration, skill development, and forward-looking discussions to strengthen clinical microbiology in India.
